How to book live music in Perth

Three steps, and two of them are ours.

Most ways of booking live music hand you a list and wish you luck. You pick a name you have never heard play, chase them for a yes, chase them again for an invoice, and find out on the night whether they read the room. Open Dawn is built the other way around. Tell us about the venue once, and after that the only decision left with you is whether a night goes ahead.

Yannai, who runs Open Dawn, has played more than 500 gigs himself and has booked live music for rooms from The Landing in Alkimos to Lake Karrinyup Country Club. That is the ear the act is matched with.

Step one

Tell us about the room

The crowd you actually get, the nights you want music on, where the act stands and what time it has to finish. A phone call does it.

Step two

We match and confirm

A performer chosen for that room, briefed on the volume, the set times and the finish, and confirmed in writing before anyone loads in.

Step three

You approve the night

One reply, or one tap. The music turns up, plays and packs down. The invoice arrives done, and only for nights that happened.

Live music for your venue, week after week

Pubs, bars, taverns, breweries and restaurants across the Perth metro area. A regular night, not a one-off.

The act suits the room

A rotating roster of professional Perth performers, matched to your crowd rather than pulled off an alphabetical list. Keep the one the regulars ask for, or rotate them.

The night still runs

If an act pulls out you get a phone call within the hour. We go looking for a replacement and put whoever we find to you, and if nobody can cover it, there is no invoice.

The paperwork arrives done

A tax invoice for every night, the same figures as a spreadsheet, and a summary by month, quarter or financial year your accountant can open and add up.

What booking live music costs in Perth

$360 plus GST for a three-hour live set.

Book two or more nights in the same week and every set that week is $350 plus GST, so two nights is $700 and three is $1,050. Over a year that is $1,040 back on two nights a week and $1,560 on three. The performer brings their own instruments and PA, and nothing else is bundled in or quietened down: filming, photography, lighting and projection are quoted separately when you want them.

You never pay a performer directly and you never see a musician's invoice. Open Dawn pays every performer and their super, so that side of it is ours. There is no lock-in, no notice period and no exit fee, nothing renews on its own, and a night that did not happen is never invoiced. Booking a single set is a complete transaction, which means trying us costs one night.

Booking live music for a one-off event

A wedding, a work function or a party is priced for the event rather than at the venue set rate. Same performers, different job.

Questions people ask about booking live music in Perth

How do I book live music for my Perth venue?

Tell us about the room and which nights you want music on. We match a performer to the crowd you actually get, brief them on the volume, the set times and the finish, and confirm the night in writing. After that you approve nights and we organise every one of them. There is nothing to learn and nobody to chase.

How much does it cost to book live music in Perth?

$360 plus GST for a three-hour live set, and $350 a set when you book two or more nights in the same week. Two nights a week works out $1,040 back over a year, and three nights $1,560. The performer brings their own equipment, and there is no lock-in, no notice period and no exit fee.

What happens if the musician pulls out?

You get a phone call within the hour, not an email the next morning. We go looking for a replacement and put whoever we find to you, and if nobody can cover it there is no invoice for that night. You are never billed for music that did not play.

Do I have to pay the musicians myself?

No. Open Dawn pays every performer, and their super, on a set day each week. The venue never pays a musician directly and never sees a musician's invoice. You get one invoice from us with a tax invoice for each night, and a summary by month, quarter or financial year that your accountant can open.

How far ahead should I book live music?

As much notice as you can give us helps, particularly for a Friday or a Saturday. That said, we fill nights at shorter notice regularly, so it is worth asking about a date even when it is close. Ask and you will know quickly whether it can be covered.

Can I book live music in Perth for a one-off event?

Yes. Weddings, corporate functions, private parties and Christmas parties are all quoted for the event itself rather than at the venue set rate, because a ceremony, a canape hour and a full evening are different jobs. Tell us the date, the place and what you want it to sound like.
