Two things in one account

The profile is open to anyone who plays. The roster is for the ones who want paid gigs in Perth venues. You can have the first without the second.

Free, no approval

The profile

What you play, where you are based, links to where your music lives, and a page people can follow. No approval needed, and no Perth address needed either. Song requests come from the room while you play, from your own list, when you switch them on.

If you want paid gigs

The roster

Apply from the same account by sending a link to you playing somewhere real. Approved, a gig that suits you lands on your phone with the venue, the date, the sets, the fee and how long you have to answer. One tap takes it. One tap passes on it.

What an offer looks like

It lands

A gig that fits what you play and how far you will travel arrives in the app. The venue, the date, the sets, the fee, and whether there is a meal or a staff discount, all on the offer before you answer.

You answer

One tap to take it, one tap to pass. Turning one down costs you nothing. Others may hold the same offer, so a quick yes is a yes.

You play

Briefed on the room, the crowd, the volume and the finish before you load in. Set times and a contact on the day, agreed in advance.

You are paid

With super, on a set day, without writing an invoice. The statement is written for you and kept in the app with every gig you have played.

What the roster is, and is not

It is not exclusive, and it is not a queue.

Nothing about the roster ties you to it. Gigs are offered one at a time, they rotate on purpose so the same four acts do not play everything, and a venue can ask for you by name. Play well and be easy to work with and more gigs reach you, because the venue rates the gig afterwards and the app uses that to decide who it offers the next one to. The stars show on your profile, so the venues that rate you well are the ones that book you again. The venue's written note stays between them and us.

Will it fill your diary in a month? No. Open Dawn is new, and the number of venues booking through it is small today. What it does is put you in front of the ones that are, with the fee and the terms written down before you say yes. The rest of how to get booked in this city is in how to get gigs in Perth, and most of it has nothing to do with us.

The profile people find

One page with what you play and where to hear it.

Your profile sits in a directory the public can read without an account, with your act type, your style and your suburb. Links to where your music lives sit on it, YouTube, Spotify, wherever it is, with a Follow button beside them. In the browser or in the app it is the same page, and it is the link to put in your bio.

The profile is open to anyone in Australia, and the browser version opens anywhere. The paid gig offers are Perth, because that is where the venues booking through Open Dawn are. If you are somewhere else, the profile, the followers and the song requests work exactly the same.

Questions from musicians and DJs

Is the app free for musicians?

Yes. The artist account, the profile, the followers and the song requests cost nothing. If you join the roster, our booking fee is billed to the venue on top of its budget, not taken out of your fee.

Do I have to join the roster?

No. The profile stands on its own and needs no approval. The roster is a separate application for paid gigs in Perth venues, and you can make a profile today and apply later, or never.

How do I get on the roster?

Send a clip of you playing to a real room, from your account. Live footage beats studio recordings. Every link is watched by a person, and if it fits what the venues need you will hear from us.

Do you take a cut of my fee?

No. The venue sets a budget for the gig, and that budget is your fee and the super on it. Our booking fee is added to the venue's bill, never taken out of yours.

Do I have to accept every offer?

No. Every offer is yours to turn down, and passing on one costs you nothing. An offer can go to more than one act at once, so answer the ones you want quickly.

Put your music where people can find it.

A free artist account takes a few minutes. Bring a clip from a real room if you want the roster as well.
